The Red Palace has a fascinating history. Once the home of Ostuni’s first mayor, Don Paolo Tanzarella, the venerable stone building has always been at the center of the city’s social and cultural life. Since his youth, Don Tanzarella had been a member of the insurrectionary movement “Giovine Italia”. On June 26, 1860, 10 years after centuries of foreign occupation, Ostuni was the first city in Puglia to proclaim Italy’s unification and to proudly fly the red, white and green flag. At the turn of the century things change and so does the Palazzo. Still owned by the Tanzarella family. Since the seventies, the beautiful Palazzo had fallen asleep for over forty years. Only its magnificent vaults, its centuries-old stones and its historical frescoes remained. 

Paragon 700의 뿌리가 된 이 붉은 궁전은 매혹적인 역사를 지니고 있다. 한때 이곳은 Ostuni의 첫번째 시장, Don Paolo Tanzarella의 저택이었지만, 시간이 흐르며 이 멋진 벽돌 건물은 도시의 문화 중심지로 변모하기 시작했다. Don Tanzarella는 젊은 시절 ‘청년 이탈리아당(Giovine Italia)’ 운동에 헌신했다. 청년 이탈리아당 운동은 1831년 Giuseppe Mazzini가 지도한, 이탈리아의 독립과 통일을 목적으로 한 결사였다. 수세기 간의 점령이 끝난 후, Ostuni는 Puglia에서 이탈리아의 통일을 선언하고 이탈리아기를 휘날린 첫 도시였다. 세기가 바뀌어 많은 것이 변했지만 Tanzarella 가문의 소 유지 Palazzo는 오랫동안 잠들어 있을 뿐이었다. Paragon 700은 그 긴 수면을 마친 궁전과 그 터 위에 새롭게 세워졌다.
